I think the government is doing great providing money from the stimulus funds to protect and expand disability services. I also think the individuals with a disability will greatly benefit from the new economic stimulus package funds for personal needs. However, there are some individuals who are not aware of the services available because they have no access to the media. Therefore, these individuals need to be promptly informed of the funds for disability services, so they can also benefit from the available programs.

Wow, this is so great! I had heard about this news from my professor, but I hadn’t known how much money, and to what organizations the money was going be given to. I believe that the government and our new president are going to provide the disability community with great help and support now and in the future to come. This is also great news for not only the persons with disabilities but for the organizations and their employees. Now I might consider working for these organizations.

I agree with Alicia, the government is doing great by providing money from the stimulus funds to protect and expand disability services. However, the we need to inform the public about the services and monies available. Media, newspapers, social services agencies, etc. need to come together and inform the public about the monies coming into.

It is a good thing and about time the government provd the money is long over due, but people should be made aware of it, so that the money dose not just sit there, there are alot of people suffering without any help.

This is great news!! I heard from a professor that the stimulus package will also offer benefits for substance abuse and mental health programs. It is comforting to know that the rehabilitation community is becoming more recognized, especially for students preparing to work in the field.

The government is doing very well giving money from the stimulus funds to disability programs. They however need to be aware of what is given to them so they can use it wisely

Wow! That's a lot of money.. but I think it's going for great use. Like everyone said, people that need this help definitely have to be aware of what's available for them.

This is great news to hear because there has not been efficient attention in the past to help all the people who have a disability. Hopefully, now that the funding to aid those with a disability is been increased, people will be able to recieve better care and services that will allow them to progress to a higher level in their daily living. This new Economic Stimulus Package will also aid them in their financial needs and they will not have to stress over it which is one of the major factors that they go through. Priscilla F.

Wow! This is firsthandedly very beneficial to individuals with disabilities, more money to aid is exactly what is needed. This also benefits the working community who is interested in specialized careers in rehabilitation. I'm glad the government will lend a helping hand to those in need, its great for all of us.

I think this is a great thing that the government is doing. The money should really come in handy for people who need it and are unable to aquire it. The govenment should continue being more considerate of every kind of people that live in the United States of America.

This is big news in the world of rehab! Consumers in need of the the services as well as the professionals who provide these services are really going to benefit from this stimulus package.

This is great, finally some change. This new Economic Stimulus Package, a substantial amount of the new spending will protect and expand disability services. My concern is if people with disabilities are going be notified of these services. I am also not sure about the a one time $450 (individuals)/$630 (couples). Independent Living costs.

It is great that the government is providing the money, most people are not aware of it, people should be made aware so they can take advantage of it.

While Obama and Biden have a 4 part plan to provide Americans with disabilities access to the same opportunities as those without disabilities, in reality one must pinch themselves and ask is this finally happening? Will Americans with disabilities really be provided better educational opportunities, will equality actually be promoted, will the employment rate really increase for PWD, and will the government really support IDL for PWD? Here’s some websites you might want to check out that are very encouraging: .Obama’s Stimulus Plan Stimulus checks on its way this year to help struggling Americans. InstantGrant-Search.com/Stimulus
New Obama Stimulus Checks I got a new stimulus grant I never need to repay to start a business www.stimuluscheckgrants.com
At the rate we’re going here, there’s money to be tapped into. Of course, I’m all game but aren’t we still spending money we don’t have? It’s kind of like having a credit card. I think, wow, I have all this extended credit and spend freely to maximize my credit but who’s going to pay the bill if I bail out? I can just file for bankruptcy or just ignore the collectors for 7 years and be debt free. Are we giving all of our power over to the government? Are we creating a monster so big that we can’t control it or wean off it? Look at what’s happening in the medical/counseling fields such as MRHR, private counseling businesses, hospitals, doctor’s offices-private practices, state funded agencies, etc. they are all billing the heck out of Medicaid insurance. Most people on SSI receive Medicaid insurance. Who is paying for this? It seems to me Welfare is being promoted and we’re not just talking about PWD who are in need of these benefits. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of millions and billions being spent on anything pertaining to PWD such as: VR state grant programs, IDEA, and upgrading SSA claims process and computerizations. Since we have so much money to spend (money we don’t have), why not work on the media and spend billions educating the public about PWD? Wow, concept! Since our new government is giving away money, I think I will check out that website I provided and tap into a grant to support a project I’m working on for a very worthy cause. Now is the time…better do that grant writing now.

Hey Claudia,
I agree with what your professors' say about the extra benefits for substance abuse and mental health programs. But, bear in mind, how are you going to bill your client?I also agree with your statement that "It is comforting to know that the rehabilitation community is becoming more recognized, especially for students preparing to work in the field." This is indeed very encouraging. Of course, people with our credentials as Rehab. Counselors, the field is wide open.
Think about it.
Sincerely,
Diana F.

As most of the people have already mentioned I agree with the fact that the Economic Stimulus Package will help many in need and will provide many with jobs for others. I believe that it is essential that money is put into disability services because many will benefit from it. I hope that there is more awareness of these new services so that way they can help as many people as possible.

I think that great that the governement is providing money for people with disabiltiy and organizations. Its about time that new programsare started for these individuals. The Senate is finanly doing somthing good with the stimulus package and not putting things in the package that are not needed. And more money can go to organizations that benifit the people of the United States.

I think it is satisfactory to know that Obama’s presidency is contemplating on otorgating a sum of money of the new economic stimulus package to disability services and programs. However, hopefully it becomes a fact and disability programs do get the money mentioned. Esly B.

I also agree with Alicia! Government is on the right track by providing funds for people with disabilities. And it is true that a lot of people do not know where to get help. I think that the government should do more to inform the public about funds and other services that would help people with disabilities.

On another note, i am currently watching "The tallest woman in the world", she is 7 foot 6 inches on TLC and they are trying to get her to the hospital because she needs treatment for her tumor (in her brain that is causing her to keep growing) and it makes me so sad! Not because of her disability but because she had to sit in the middle of the sidewalk while they fix the bus that she was going to be transported in (because she can really only lay down and the mattress was to low) and all these people are gathering around and staring at her, and she is crying. It makes me sad that people are staring at her, but i do not know, i guess its human nature. But still, i wish i was there to yell at all those people and tell them to go away and leave her alone....

Well, I’m glad the stimulus money is going help protect and expand the disability services. Because the economic is not going to improve with stimulus money it might help just a little. To me this is impressing that finally our government is doing something to help its people not just themselves. I believe the reason President Obama is more will to help in disability services is due to his personal experience with his father in-law which had multiple sclerosis. That is a lot of money is going to go into these programs which will help many people whom need it.this will also provide many benefits for all individuals with disavilitys.

Wow the president and the government are trying to make a huge difference. By giving this money to people with disabilities it will show that they are not leaving anybody out, that they are including everyone and trying to be fair and equal. From what I see this is actually a lot of money that is being invested and will help change people's lives. I also see this as a way to be able to keep these programs going to be able to provide these services to people with disabilities. Not only for the people with disabilities but also for the people who are low income. The government and the president are trying to help everyone in one way or another.

I think that it is a great idea that the government is going to give the rehab community money. At least the government is spending our tax dollars in doing something good for the American people. Hopefully the money will get distributed the way it says it will, so disability programs can better serve people with disabilites.

I am glad they remembered about people with disablilities during this time when everything is about the recession and banks needing money. It seems like all they talk about now is the stock market. This stimulus package is meant to help people affected by the current situation and I'm glad people with disablilities weren't forgotten. There are tons of people that will benefit from this money.

That is wonderful. You really don't hear this on the news very often, mater-of-fact I didn't even know about this until I read this. I believe its wonderful because people with disabilties that actually use this programs really benefit from this especially because there is more money given to these programs and that would probably mean more services too.

The government is doing a wonderful job by providing funds for disabliies services. This will really help people with disablities. This can expand their their opporunities in many positive ways. The stimulus plan will really benefit even services that can provide help for people with disabities.

They will use the money in a very good way. It is a lot of money but it will help the people who needs it. I feel good because they are focusing on people with disablities. With this money there will be more services and programs available as Alicia said.

Now this is what I'm talking about. This is where the big money is going, and that makes me feel a lot better.
this seems to really umbrella alot of Rehab services and it will really be of great benefit to all of the disabled community and not just a select few.
I am not a big fan of Big Government and Wasteful spending, but if there is big spending like this, I definitely approve.

But on the down-side, I definitely agree with Diana F. is saying, Do we even have the money to spend? and the answer is a big fat no.
It's inevitable that our government will be printing money, but at least it's on something that will benefit people nationwide.

The government couldn't have done a better job than funding money for disability services. Our everyday spending is going to benefit people all over, and that makes me feel good and something very well worth it. As this money is being funded for disability services, people should be informed about these changes so they can be aware of future availabilities. The government is doing a very, very good job on this.

I love to read about money being put behind the legislature. I think this is an awesome example of our tax dollars going towards what it is supposed to. This is what the entire point of putting acts into laws is. Funds is what makes the difference and change allowable. In a time of recession it is good to see that the important services for IWD is not being over looked.
