Obama and Biden's attempt to restore the American's with Disabilities Act is something that needs to be done, for many individuals with disabilities who are sometimes even more capable of doing the job than others are not giving an opportunity. I also rejoice at the fact that support independent living. Also, the idea of providing more educational opportunities for those with disabilities is very important because many times individuals have the capacity they just don't have opportunity to study due to lack of support, and because public school are not well prepare to help individual who experience a disability.

Barrack Obama - a name that will resound throughout the pages of American history forever. I honestly never thought I would see the day when a member of a minority group would get elected as President of the United States. Not to mention a woman seeking the Vice President position - wow! How great to be living this experience. Through Obama's winning there is now hope for everyone to believe that yes, it is possible to be anything you want to be. But his mission is just beginning. As the dust begins to settle, I am looking forward to the next four years. I sincerely hope he is able to take this nation and push it forward into prosperity and strength for all Americans - because we sure need our faith restored in this great country of ours!

Barack Obama’s push to restore the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) is definitely something that needed to be done. Obama and Biden’s stance on individuals with disabilities absolutely fits into their campaign’s message of equal opportunity for all Americans, and I am glad to see that they support independent, community-based living for Americans with disabilities because I feel that we should empower individuals with mental and/or functional disabilities. I am also delighted to discover that Barack Obama and Joe Biden will fight to bestow students with disabilities the public education they have a right to, invest in early intervention programs, improve college opportunities, and support collective screening of infants because this will ultimately empower all individuals with disabilities. As I am sure most people in the United States are, I am without a doubt excited to have Barack Obama in the White House.

I agree with Norfy and Matthew, I am excited about Obama's win and excited to see what he has in store for out country. By no means will it be an easy road but the difficult journeys are the ones that provide us with the most learning experiences and the most appreciated and rewarding end results.

I think the idea of making a workplace an accessible place for individuals with disabilities is great. A ramp, automatic doors, and many other details that will help people with disability should be a part of every corporation in this nation. Limiting the barriers to the minimum will only have a positive out come. Everyone has the right to feel at ease in a work environment. However, besides the material barrier, the second great thing that can also help a person with disabilities and the other workers is the idea of providing support groups. By proving such a group people with disabilities will feel more conferrable and people without disabilities will eliminated their inter barrier (if any) of not knowing how to act around a person with disabilities.

Obama/ Biden Disability Issues are great. They take into consideration the issues of people with disabilities going to school especially higher education and jobs one of their many priorities. They also take into consideration the updating of the American’s with Disabilities Act. This is a great reformation for people with disabilities. Now, a day after the election we know that Obama has become our president and all we can do is hope for those promises and issues to come forward for the best of everyone.

I liked it. I'm sure that with Obama/Biden the "change" the country needs will happen. I'm glad to here that disability awareness is one of their priorities- it sure brings greater hope for everyone. Now I am more sure that if you really want something and have your heart set on it- it does come true. Not to mention what all of us together can do.

I was quite dissapointed in McCain/Palin because I was defintley backing them and voted for them. I was suprised he didn't say anything about disabilities or the ADA since he has been through so much in terms of going through war. Since there was nothing he had on the subject, I checked out Obama's plan and I think what he has planned to do is a great deal! I think him attempting to restore the ADA is a great idea and something that needs to be done. Also all of the other advantages he has going such as improve college opportunities and such is a great direction to go.

Hooray for Obama winning, now the hard, long journey begins for him and his staff. The blog provided some links that showed Obama's and McCain's views and policy guideline on americans with disabilites. It did not suprise me that McCain did not have any specific points on how to deal with the situation of our country when it comes to americans with disabilities. I do not think he really looked at the real picture of what has become the United States. Though he did try by constantly referring to "Joe the plumber", I think he was a couple of decades late. Maybe in the 80's he might have been the majority.

As for Obama's plan he specifically pointed out 4 key issues that need to be dealt with.
Education, equal oppurtunity increase employment oppurtunity and independant living and all this is right out of the ADA of 1990. I am glad he is reaffirming a committment to make sure these issues are being executed. There are already many programs and individuals making sure these laws are implemented but I am sure it gives them an added boost to know our new president is going to back them up. I knowwe are on our way for some great changes and new directions to take for people with disabilities.

The Restoration to the Americans with Disabilities Act has been long due for adjustment and improvement since its inception. Even though the Act has been passed over 15 years ago, it hasn’t been implemented the way most people would have expected it to. And now with this new presidency on its way, it’s about time we are going to have someone in office who believes in including every minority group into consideration when it comes to benefits and equal employment opportunities. I have no doubt that, if any presidential ticket is capable of making a difference in such issues that pertain to people with disabilities and issues that matter to this nation, it will be the Obama/Biden ticket to the white house. I believe that we have a great deal in store for what this potential presidency has to offer this nation and I will be greatly satisfied with the outcome on Tuesday November the 4th. I think it is very important to vote to help the country to be better in every sense. If we dont give opinions and we dont have a voice how we can pretend things are going to change? We all need to have a voice and try the best to elect a president who will really help everybody with different conditions and social standards.

I am glad to hear of all the changes our president is trying to make. The things he plans to do for people with disabilities sound great. Everyone wants to be treated with equality. I just hope his attempt to restore the ADA is a success.

Obama and Bidens statement to fight for people with disabilities is truly overwelming. Simply knowing that our president and vice president have full force and contact towards ADA is a step forward to helping put hope and faith into students. Providing college oppurtunities and a variety of programs to help our present and future students of america succeed will make a difference!! Congrats to Obama and Biden!! My vote was to you!!

End workplace discrimination and promote equal opportunity:
Obama and Biden will restore the Americans with Disabilities Act, reducing workplace and labor market discrimination against people with disabilities.

Support independent, community-based living for Americans with disabilities:
Obama and Biden will ensure people with mental or functional disabilities are placed in community settings when appropriate

First of all, congrats to Obama and Biden for being our countrys next leaders and hope of America!! Obama and Bidens attempt to provide programs and college oppurtunites for students with disabilities is awesome!! I totally beleive in them both, they truly have the heart to help our ADA into becoming an association filled with smiles and laughter for the future!! As for McCain and Pallin: they should have stated some arguments or statements that at least let us know that ADA is acknowledged..

Obama and Biden are a strong team. I am so glad they will be our future leaders of our country especially am glad to hear that they are such advocates for people with disabilites and also for education. I am looking forward to a positive change in our country. Our country needs to move forward towards a modern future which definely includes those with disabilites. It is very important because some of these individuals are very talented and show lots of dedication to our working environment. Obama and Biden have showed us that they do not discriminate which is fantastic. Cannot wait for them to take office and see change occur in the near future.I garza

It is more than exciting to see a person in a minority group as our new president and I know that he will bring many changes to the world. We need a change in this world and it is about that time we stand up and motivate each other to encourage this change. I know that this change will be for the best and we will see nothing but good things in it. Obama and Biden are great candidates and I bestow my faith and support in their candidacy. It was great when we had a women running for the main spot to lead our nation in the right direction. Our time will come and we will have a woman in the leading position soon. Just knowing that she could even have been a possible VP puts women back on top and soon we will be able to prove to everyone we are more than capable to lead.

It was refreshing to hear Obama and Biden’s plans for improving the lives of individuals with disabilities. I truly hope that these promises are fulfilled and individuals with disabilities get the assistance they need and deserve. I am looking forward to the improvements in the education for individuals with disabilities. I am also hoping to see the families of those individuals get informed with the upcoming changes. What I see happening now is that the families of individuals with disabilities often do not know that they have rights and that the school should be providing their child with certain services. I do not think that changing the system without including or educating the public about such change out make a significant difference. I am looking forward to see what new changes are in store and what improvement s to the education of individuals with disabilities will provide.

I can totally agree with Norfy in that I would have never believed that a minority would be able to make it into the White House as President, and now that President-Elect Obama has proved himself. I can only hope for the best… Juan N.

Looking back at everything that has been going on throughout this whole election. It was a very intense election. I am so proud to say the Obama is our new president. It was suprising to me how this election was one of the biggest elections in history, and glad that many people finally went out to vote. Because everyone needed to vote, we made history with Obama becoming President.

The Election Day has long passed & the expectation for change is still lingering. We are certainly living in the times of change. My prayers are with the New President Elect; he has so much to work on, too many expectations & promises to fulfill. The next few months will be interesting to observe.
